Big Bear

We spent the weekend in Big Bear. We just needed to get away! There was just enough snow to do a little sledding and snowball fighting. We also went bowling at the "Bowling Barn" and spent a lot of time relaxing and watching movies! We were lazy bums, but we needed a little down time as a family.

Disneyland with Grandma

My mom was on Spring Break this week so we decided to take her away from her "spring cleaning" for a day and go to Disneyland!

We worked on some new moves at the parade...

Hunter got to go on his absolute favorite ride, Dumbo!

We met an awesome animal balloon maker at a restuarant where Tanner's balloon light saber with holster became the envy of every boy we met thereafter, especially his younger brother (notice the little hands reaching for it)!

Even though we did have a cranky three old with us most of the day, we had a nice time. Beautiful weather and not too many long lines!

Recent goings-on

Both boys are in gymnastics. Tanner had been doing cartwheels and handstands everywhere so we figured we better put him in gymnastics! I found a great gym that had a 3-4 year old class as well as a 6 years old all boys class at the same time! Score! So, we have been spending our Wednesdays evenings at gymnastics. The boys love it and are always ready for a big dinner afterward! No flash photography is allowed in the room Tanner has his class (there are girls doing flips off balance beams-we don't want them to be blinded!) so I only have a quick picture of the little man in the "preschool room".

In February, we took my dad to the Harlem Globe Trotters at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario. We had been wanting to go there to check it out. It was a very nice arena and would highly recommend it. The Harlem Globe Trotters, not so much.

We spent a day at California Adventure/Disneyland with some school friends a few weeks ago. Hunter has grown and was able to go on a few rides he was too short for in the past. He loved Soaring Over California (who doesn't?) but would not even step foot in Star Tours. I was sad because I knew he would love it- maybe next time!

Here is Tanner with his friend Abbey. They are two peas in a pod. The only time they stopped talking to each other all day was to smile for this picture.

Talk about growing! These two cuties, Maci and Regan, celebrated their fifth birthday on March 8! We celebrated with them at John's Incredible Pizza.

Okay, I feel a little more caught up with my pictures now. Whew.

Green

I took advantage of the Green Theme on St. Patrick's Day and decided to dedicate the day to getting our garden green!

We worked hard and had fun! We built this tepee for our beans and sugar peas to grow up. I am really hoping it works because Tanner is so excited about it! (notice the light saber hanging onto Tanner? The boys were interweaving their Star Wars game into their gardening-whatever gets the job done!)

After a hard days work, we had to turn on the sprinklers to water our new plants and wash down the boys! They had fun running through the water and it makes me anxious for summer!

Critter Country

Tuesday was our "Opening Day" for our new unit of study:

Critter Country!

We will be reading Secret Garden, Heidi, and Where the Red Fern Grows. We went on a tour of the Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens to get excited about starting our own gardens.

Then, we went to a nearby park and made "Crunchy Seed Candy" and gave the kids a little preview of what Critter Country has in store for them. Afterwards, the boys got busy making a "wind break" for a fort at a the park. They worked on it for about two hours. Other people at the park were quite impressed with their handy work which made them feel all the more proud. If you are ever in Claremont, I highly recommend Higginbothom Park. Funny name, but an awesome park, especially for older kids.

It was a fun and relaxed day. We are looking forward to starting our garden and reading all of these classic tales!

The Munchkin

If you can believe it, this little man will be 3 and a half at the end of the month. He is a not a baby anymore, and reminds me of this everytime I try to pretend he is. He still is my little love bug though! He can pump his legs on a swing, just started a gymnastics class, loves to ride his "cooter", and is a great help when it comes to putting away the silverware. He LOVES Star Wars (or Tar Wers) and answers to "Luke" (as in Luke Skywalker) on a regular basis. He is very opinionated and not afraid to share that opinion with anyone. We call the picture below the "furrowed brow". It is a common face he makes when things are not going his way.

We love our little munchkin, furrowed brow and all!
