Fun Memorial Weekend!

Thursday-Spanish Performance
Maestra Ana is quite the face painter!
The kids sung songs in Spanish that they had learned in Spanish class this year.  Hunter really is quite a little performer and could really "bailar" with the best of them!  So cute!

Saturday-Star Wars Day at the Library
Dressing up is optional at this event, so when I asked the boys if they wanted to dress up, they both shouted "Yes!" with no hesitation.  Luckily we have a costume box dedicated solely to Star Wars, so we were ready to go with costumes in about 5 minutes!

You might think this is just an Ewok, but once those glasses go on, he becomes a Dancing Ewok, with some sweet moves!
 Costume Contest 0-5 years contestants.
The Dancing Ewok takes First Place (or "I got first in place!!") and receives a Star Wars backpack!  I don't think I've ever seen a more excited Ewok!
 So proud!!
The 6-11 years had some stiff competition!  But thanks to a seriously good cheering section and some awesome lightsaber skills, our Anakin took second place!
Our winners with some of their fans who are very loud at cheering for friends!
 Lego Star Wars displays-So Cool!

Sunday-Church
and relaxing at home with this sweet baby who is now sporting 3 teeth!

Monday-Charity's First Birthday party!
We took advantage of family being together on Memorial day and celebrated her birthday a little early!  We BBQed at Heidi's with family and swimming.

Darling cupcake cake made by none other than Grandma Cook...
Birthday girl with her cute party dress from Aunt Chelsea

Time for your first bite of cake!  Here is what Charity thought of her party...
"Hmm, this is a little messy....

But I might as well try it since I put everything else in my mouth...

Why have you been keeping this delicious treat from me for a whole year?
I can't get enough of this sweet goodness!
 Yum!

Baby Brett knows how to enjoy his cake!

Now I know why these guys get so excited for cake time at parties- it is the best part!
Present time!  My brothers and cousins seemed to like the presents more than me.  I really liked playing with the cards though!
Parties sure are fun!  I am so glad I have so much family who comes to wish me Happy Birthday on my special day!  My brother even learned to play "Happy Birthday" on the piano for me!  It is great to be one!"

San Bernardino History, plus a few other things...

We have been learning about our local history and thought it would be fun to learn a bit about how the Mormon pioneers helped to settle the valley that we live in-San Bernardino.  I asked a friend from church, who is an expert on local Mormon history, to help us out.  She took us to all sorts of little plaques in the area that are dedicated to those early Mormon California Pioneers.  It was a fun little outing and I sure learned a lot!  Thanks Sister Baker for sharing your knowledge with us!

We also stopped by the San Bernardino County Museum to see their San Bernardino history displays...

 Soccer time...

 Fun at the Park...

I am impressed with Tanner's landscape pastel drawing he did at Art...

Happy 9th Birthday Tanner!

Tanner turned 9 today!  We celebrated with a party with friends after school.  The boys had fun.
Everyone loved this Ninjago cake and cupcakes made by Grandma Cook!  Thanks again Mom!

Tanner LOVES his grandparents so we wanted to take them out to dinner to celebrate his birthday!  Tanner chose Farrells.  What a fun place to go for a nine year old!  Loud, fattening, and fun!
Tanner got  a balloon fishing pole hat...
and Hunter got a pirate costume!

Even Miss Charity got in on some of the fattening food (french fries!).

They make a BIG deal out of singing to you on your birthday-drums and all! They sang a "Birthday Jam" song to Tanner and he acted a little embarrassed but I could tell he liked all the attention!
Birthday Sundae-Yummy! I think all of Tanner's birthday wishes came true!

We are so proud of our 9 year old boy.  He is a great older brother and a good example to his siblings.  He keeps our home full of love, energy, and conversation!  Thank you Tanner, we LOVE you!
Happy Birthday!
