Keeping Busy

I love little things that keep the kids busy and take little effort on my part-
like painting a box!

Do you like Hunter's foot apparel?

What keeps your kids actively engaged?

Moms should not get sick!

I think there are two things that should come standard when you become a mother.
1. Every mother should be ambidextrous.
2. Mothers should never get sick, especially when they have kids under the age of 5.

I am really wishing number 2 was true right now. Saturday Hunter was up all night with the flu, and now it has traveled to me. As I lie on the couch knowing that if I move I will end up in the bathroom, Hunter asks, "You feel sick?" Yes is my reply. "I will help you." I am hoping for a hug or a blanket as he walks over to me but instead he takes his little hands and pries them under my head to lift my head up. "Now you are awake. You feel better?"
Thanks, Hunter. Apparently if I am not laying down, I am not sick.

May health be with whomever reads this!

Beach Time!

We spent Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at Ladd's parents timeshare in Newport. Even though Ladd had to work, it was fun for the boys and I to get out of the normal routine and have some fun in the sun!

On Monday night, we met up with Ladd at Disneyland. What made it even more fun is that we ran into our friends, the Dows, and spent the entire evening with them. Tanner and Hunter had fun with their boys!
What a cute bunch of kids!

Lawni, Ladd's sister, and her daughter, Brielle, were down for the week. It is always fun to hang out with Lawni, and she happened to be the only other one there while we were there, so I was very grateful for her company! Brielle really took to Tanner and they had a great time all week. Hunter joined in on some of their fun, but was pretty content to hang out with mom most of the time! We spent all day at the beach on Tuesday with them.
Making sand castles!

Brielle and Tanner had a great time in the water!
Hunter spent most of the day running away from the water!

Lawni was kind enough to watch the little ones while I took Tanner over to the tide pools where we saw all sorts of crabs and other critters that live in shells. He had fun climbing through the caves and the rocks.

We spent Wednesday at the pool and met Ladd for lunch, since he happened to have a court appearance nearby that morning. It was a fun little get away and makes me very anxious for summer time!

Bedtime Stories

Lately, Hunter has been asking for Tanner to read him a bedtime story (or in the case of this picture, a "naptime" story). Hunter knows where Tanner's reading books are and he will go chose one and say "Tanner read to me." So cute! (Notice the animals that are also listening to the story!)

Another FUN Space Field Trip!

Last week we took a trip to the Griffith Observatory in LA. It has a great hands-on space museum and a planetarium show that the kids loved! This field trip was an awesome way to wrap up our space unit for school. I could have spent the whole day here!

Waiting for the Planetarium show to start...
I was really worried about taking Hunter to the show, but he absolutely loved it! I was so relieved!

The kids were enthralled with the pendulum and spent a long time watching it.

Baby Einstein!

What a beautiful day at the top of LA!

Celebrations!

This weekend we celebrated....

Bryants Birthday
On Friday we met up with a group of friends to celebrate Bryant's birthday. His birthday is the same day as Tanner's! His sweet wife, Sarah, planned a surprise birthday dinner for him. Bryant grew up next door to Ladd so they go way back! It was fun to see friends we don't see as much as we would like to!

Brenda's Baby
My cousin Brenda is having a baby girl and we celebrated on Saturday with a Hawaiian style baby shower! Everything was decorated Hawaiian style-we felt like we were in Paradise, although it was probably really 100 something outside! We are excited to meet Bridget, the first girl amongst many boys!

Mothers Day
After all this celebration, all I wanted for mothers day was a nap! I told Ladd to take the boys somewhere after church so I could get a little rest. I did- a FOUR HOUR NAP! It was great! I hope all you mothers out there had a wonderful day and got just what you wanted too!

My Baby is 6!

Yesterday Tanner celebrated his 6th birthday! We took advantage of the birthday deal Disneyland is offering (free admission on your birthday, and if you already have a pass, a gift card worth the price of admission!) and spent the morning there with his cousins, Maci and Regan. Tanner got a Happy Birthday button so all day long everyone was saying "Happy Birthday, Tanner!" It made it all the more special for him.

Tanner chose to spend his gift card on a "paleontologist" hat. It is really an Indiana Jones hat, but we will just call it his paleontologist hat!

It was a great day to be there, the lines were not too long. We even got to visit Mickey with no wait!

Later that night, we ate cake and ice cream, and played with cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents, and some of our favorite friends, Josh and Dallin! Tanner wanted a paleontologist cake, so we made a volcano, with dinosaur bones buried in it. Tanner had a great time and everyone was so nice to give him "science" presents! It was a very fun day!

We are so proud of Tanner and all of the wonderful qualities he his developing!
Happy Birthday Tanner!

Far Out!

Saturday was NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab Open House. We drove to the beautiful city of Pasadena, along with a million other people, to take part in this event. Aside from the massive crowds, it was awesome. Tanner was in heaven! We saw all sorts of models of various spacecraft and Tanner was not shy to ask the scientists all of his questions about space! We only covered about one third of the open house and wish we could've had more time there. Space is really an awe inspiring subject and I am so glad we have been able to spend lots of time on it for school this year!
Tanner and Jace in front of a model Mars rover.

Another Mars Rover rolling over these "Mars rocks"-this was Tanner's favorite part of the day!
