Mesopotamia

We have been learning about the Fertile Crescent, Mesopotamia, Sumer, all ancient things between Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.  We got together with the B Family to do a few activities.  The idea was to go to Lyle Creek and do these activities by a "river", but we needed to do a few things at home, and then due to lack of time, we decided just to do our water activity in their pool. Thank you flexibility!  We learned a fun song about Ancient Mesopotamia on youtube, then learned about Ziggurats and made a the ancient temples...

We had a feast complete with dates and pomegranates and other healthy snacks from the day...

We wrote our names on clay tablets just like they did long ago...

And finished off the day making sail boats and testing them out in the pool.  (Mesopotamians, we believe, were the first to invent sails)

Always fun to learn with friends!

Hunter is 11!

Hunter turned 11 inSeptember!  He is growing up too fast!  Hunter is such a sweetheart.  He is helpful, wants to make others happy, and puts others ahead of himself.  He has got quite the sense of humor, loves hanging out with friends, and jumping on the trampoline.  We are so proud of our sweet Hunter boy!

He had blueberry pancakes for his birthday breakfast.  Hunter can eat pancakes like you wouldn't believe!  Good thing I put spinach in them so he is getting some greens in!

Opened presents from us in the morning...

We had the family over for cake and ice cream...

And celebrated all the boys with birthdays this week.  We are missing Grandpa Hoyal though!
Opening more presents from the family...

A few days later we took a few of Hunter's friends to Scandia to celebrate again...

We love you Hunter!  Happy 11th Birthday!

20 Year Reunion

Am I getting old or what?  I went to my 20 year high school reunion in September!  It was really fun to see old friends.  I didn't get many pictures, but it was a beautiful evening.  There was an open bar ALL night, which I could've done without.  I think I spoke to a few people who will have no memory of talking to me the next day!  But, it did get people on the dance floor which I never need anything from a bar to convince me of that!  So I talked and danced the night away!  Ladd was not keen on going, so I got to hang out with Natalie all night, who was also husbandless.  Fun night, and made me so grateful I don't drink!
