Guess Whose 4?

Hunter Bear turned 4 yesterday!

We celebrated with Cinnamon Rolls and birthday candles and a new Lego set in the Morning...

The Afternoon was spent at his Birthday Friend, Spencer's, party (they were born on the same day)...

And spent the Evening at California Adventure for dinner and to watch "World Of Color"...

Doctor Intervention

My kids get hurt all the time but I have felt lucky that we have not had any major injuries requiring the help of a doctor, until now. On Saturday Hunter was climbing on our barstools, which I am always telling him not to do, this time he leaned back and the corner of the table broke his fall. It also broke right through his skin and made a pretty deep cut on the crown of his head. We rushed him to Urgent Care where he was promptly given 2 staples to help his wound heal. I was very impressed with Hunter. He did not shed a single tear at the doctor's office. He sat perfectly still when they asked him to and when we got home reported, "That was fun!" This is the same kid who doesn't cry when he gets a shot and watches the needle go in when he gets blood drawn. He certainly did not get this bravery from me! I think we have a future doctor on our hands. The saddest part about this is that he will have to miss his swimming lessons all week and it is over 100 degrees! Perfect week for swimming-oh well!

Homeschool Happenings

Did you know Constitution Day is on Sept. 17 and that every public school is supposed to celebrate it? I sure didn't until we joined a Charter School that makes sure it follows all rules to a tee. So every year on Sept. 17 we do some kind of Constitution lesson. This year, I decided to invite all of our homeschool friends over and make it a group lesson. The kids had fun and I was super impressed with all of their cute artwork.

We have been learning about the Creation of the Earth the last few weeks and took some time to appreciate nature yesterday at the L.A. Arboretum. It was a perfect day for being outside. The kids enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and exploring some new environments.

Hunter has a lot to say...

The boys are in swimming lessons, again, and Hunter finally decided to go under the water-and does it constantly. He must open his eyes all the time because his eyes were awfully sore after his lesson today. After we had been home from class for awhile today, I found him off on his own with his head down on the table. I asked him if he was ok and he replied, "I was just praying to Jesus that He would make my eyes better." Melt my heart.

As I was trying to get the boys settled down for Family Home Evening tonight, Ladd said, "Listen to Mom, she is the boss." Hunter looks at us and says, "Girls can't be bosses, only boys." I asked where he learned that and his reply, "I learned it on my own." What a stinker!

What more can a Boy ask for?

Three Days and Two Nights BEACH CAMPING with your FRIENDS!!

The boys woke up each morning and played in the sand and the dirt until it was time for bed. They loved it- and so did Ladd and I! This was our second time going to Leo Carillo Campsite in Malibu with a bunch of fun families from church. I loved spending time with all of these wonderful people and their good kids. I also love the beach there (although the water was a bit chilly this year)

The tide was super high this year, so the Dads took the big boys climbing over these rocks to get to a sea cave. With the high tide, the cave was a little scary and it was not Tanner's favorite part of the trip. I was just glad that all kids and dads made it back safely!

Hunter can't decide if he is fierce or sweet!
