The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Last summer, I told the kids if we read all the Harry Potter books we would go to Universal Studios and see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  We actually finished the books in December, and they got tickets to Universal Studios in their stockings on Christmas morning.  We finally found a day that worked.  It was great, not crowded, and so fun.

Going on a ride with a Hippogriff...

The little town of Hogsmeade/Diagon Alley mash up was so cute.  Felt like you were really there.  Most of the workers even spoke in English accents and wondered where all these Muggle devices were coming from!

And the Hogswart castle was so cool!  We got to tour it, and then see it again while waiting in line for the ride.  The ride was fun, although I would not recommend going on it right after drinking Butter Beer!

The kids LOVED the Butter Beer. I can see why Harry, Hermoine, and Ron drank it whenever they had the chance!  Think creme soda, butterscotch, and vanilla ice cream.  Mmmm....

In Ollivanders, waiting for the wand ceremony....
That was the longest line by far all day.  And a wand chose Tanner!  So magical, but even more magical for Universal Studios since it is a sweet marketing scheme for families to spend $50 on a wand!  Yes-you still have to pay for it if you are the one chosen in the ceremony.  Just makes it harder for parents to say no you can't have it after 20 minutes of showing off its powers to a small crowd of strangers!

Remember Mr. Weasley's car that got beat up by the Whomping Willow- it survived!

We had a fun time seeing the other things at Universal, like this Jengo Fett statue on the City Walk, but we really just came there for Harry and were not disappointed!

Makes me want to read the books again, hmm, not sure I have the time for that though!
