10 years ago...
I was 19, in my second semester of my freshman year at BYU. I was living in the dorms, Helaman Halls, Taylor Hall to be exact! That was a hard semester. I was taking a lot of credits, felt homesick, and was ready to give up. But, I made it through, and it was certainly worth it! I learned a lot, and decided my major that semester: elementary education. I made so many wonderful friends that year whom I still keep in contact with. We had fun in the dorms and laughed a lot. (playing with Jell-o at the Cannon Center, dressing up for Disco Night-oh wait, it's not Disco night, late night Slurpee runs, etc...) We were very mature!
Ladd was in Texas, serving a mission for Church. I wrote him regularly and the highlight of my week was getting a letter from him in my mailbox. Wow, that seems like a lifetime ago, I guess it was!

5 places I've lived:

1) Alta Loma, CA (born and raised)
2) Provo, UT (this included many different apartments, but all the same city!)
3) Rancho Cucamonga, CA
4) Yucaipa, CA
5) Fontana, CA (presently)

That's it, only five places in 29 years!

5 things to do today:

1) Go to Park Day
2) Help Tanner draw an entire city of "Busy Animals"
3) Try to keep Hunter from getting as few bumps and bruises as possible
4) Go to Enrichment Night at Church
5) Try to catch up on my scripture reading to meet the "Hinckley Challenge"

Teacher (3rd grade and 5th grade in Fontana)
Currently a substitute for Alta Loma School District
And, my most rewarding, fulfilling, and challenging job, Mommy!!

3 Snacks I can't live without

ICE CREAM
Any baked goodies (cookies, brownies, bread, etc.)
Chips and Guacamole

What we would do with billions of dollars:

1) Build a custom made dream house, just for us-with all the upgrades! No white grout would be allowed!
2) Hire a housekeeper to clean this beautiful house
3) Go on lots of fun and educational family vacations
4) Buy a summer home at some exotic location
5) Give scholarships to deserving poor high school kids to go to a good college

5 Things you may not know about me:

1) I officially cannot sing. I love to sing, my kids and anyone sitting next to me in Church can attest to that. But, I've been told by a voice teacher when I was in junior high that I am tone deaf and, years later, by a BYU music professor in college that I have nodes on my throat and should have them surgically removed (He always said no one is tone deaf, so he had to come up with some other excuse as to my inability to hit any note.) Both of these people were very nice and tried earnestly to help me, but eventually decided I was helpless. So much for my aspirations of Broadway, or the Ward Choir.
2) I have very little innate "girl" talent. I cannot decorate worth beans. I try, but seriously, I have no idea what I am doing or if what I did looks decent. Same thing for "decorating" myself. Hair, make-up, clothes- totally clueless. Because of this lack of "girlyness" I hate shopping for clothes or things for my house. This does not mean I don't enjoy girl things, I love the ballet, musicals, etc, just don't ask me to do the set design or costumes!
3) I am training to run a half marathon. It's the Fontana Race in June. I am running a 10k in Agoura Hills in April to help prepare. Wish me luck and call me crazy!
4) I love having boys and would be perfectly content to have all boys. As explained earlier, I do not know how to do girly things and am much more suited for digging in the dirt all day than getting my nails done. Seriously, the first thought that went through my mind when we found out Hunter was going to be a boy was that of utter relief: I don't have to worry about doing someone's hair!
5) Ever since my education classes in college, I have wanted to Homeschool my kids. I thought it would be so fun to really explore a certain subject, do projects and field trips that just aren't possible in the public school setting. As time has gone by, I researched Homeschooling more and have found it to be an amazing way for kids to get an awesome education and nourish their most important relationships. So, next year Tanner will be starting kindergarten, at home. Again, wish me luck and call me crazy!

10 years from now...
Well, I hope all of you reading this will be happy and healthy. I hope my family will be enjoying life, finding happiness in all they do. Hopefully, we will still be in So. Cal, near family. Ladd will be doing well in work, so our financial needs will be met. I will still be able to be home for my kids. My boys will be the best of friends and they will never fight. Maybe we will have gone on a few real vacations (some with kids, some without!) Hopefully, the kids will be living the gospel, not just because we tell them to, but because they know that it is right and true. In ten years, I hope we are a family who loves one another and the Lord, then no matter where we are or what we've been through, we will be fine.
