Little Britches

We are reading a great book for school, Little Britches: Father and I were Ranchers, by Ralph Moody. It is an autobiography about an eight year old boy who moved from New England to Colorado with his family to start up a ranch. The critics have said it is a book every boy should read sometime in his youth. At first I thought this might be a hard one for Tanner because it is really long, but we both love it!

A Visit to Amy's Farm

Here is Granny the miniature horse. All the kids LOVED grooming the horses and Hunter was especially taken with Granny. He kept saying he wanted to bring Granny home and after we got home, he would ask "Can we have a Granny?"

Tanner was a natural at milking!
Hunter thought it was pretty fun too!
Aside from the flies that accompany farm animals, I can easily say our visit to the farm was one of our favorite field trips thus far!

Horse Lessons with our favorite cowgirl, Jayme!

She taught us all about horses and how to care for them.
Jayme even taught the kids how to ride a horse and let them take Dominee (the horse) for a trot around the yard.
We are so thankful for Jayme and we all learned so much from her!

The LA County Fair

And also enjoyed the other areas of the fair that had nothing to do with Little Britches...
