San Diego Getaway

We took some time for a little family fun away from home this week. We spent ALL DAY Thursday at Legoland. I think the boys thought they had died and gone to Lego Heaven. They were absolutely mesmerized. We haven't been since the kids have really gotten into Legos and they were the perfect age for this trip. They loved it all and wished we lived closer so we go more frequently!
We got to spend some time with our favorite Star Wars guys...

Go on lots of fun rides for the Brave...
and not so Brave (look at the poor little frightened face!)
We learned how Legos are made (I love the picture of the boys watching the Lego Factory video. If only they would sit like that for Church!)
The boys LOVED building at all the cute little places where you could build. We would have to tear them away so we could fit it all in one day.

The deal we got on our tickets included a "hopper" pass to the Sea Life Aquarium next to Legoland. It was really cute and a fun way to start out the day...

We spent the next day at Old Town San Diego. Our Church has an historical site there that is amazing! It is about the Mormon Battalion who started out as pioneers crossing the Plains but ended up as soldiers helping the early settlers of San Diego area. There was a very interactive display and I would recommend it to anyone who is out that way! It's all free and we left with a family picture and "gold" that the kids found while panning for it.

Inside a covered wagon-we've been reading Little House on the Prairie series this summer so I was happy to let the boys explore a real covered wagon and see what it would be like to travel in one with your whole family for months at a time...
Panning for gold. Tanner really likes money so he took this very seriously and is hoping to sell his "gold" for big bucks!

Brick Making or in our case building with bricks
Hunter built a "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints"
and Tanner built a Temple.
At the end of the tour, they take a family portrait with an old fashioned camera. This old fashioned camera can email the picture to you, so obviously it has been adjusted slightly!

Looks like fun! Are you as sad as I am that summer is coming to an end??? We definitely need to go back to LegoLand over Thanksgiving. Want to come?
