Exploring California's past...

We spent all day Friday in LA.  We went to Olvera Street to explore the Mexican culture and history of LA.  

In front of an old fire "truck" at the fire house museum where we had a guide who was great with the kids...

The Chinese American Museum was a fun little find.  There was quite a bit about architecture in the museum as one of CA prominent architectures is Chinese born.  The kids had a great time designing layouts for houses  here...

 and looking through these fun binoculars to see 3-D versions of different buildings here...

 

First Governor of CA...

 Hooray for Olvera Street- all free except for the yummy tacos and burritos we had for lunch!

Then we rolled on over to La Brea Tar Pits...

 As always, the Brea Tar Pits Museum was fun and interesting and smelled like tar, or should I say asphalt!

 Even Charity was having a good time!

 Poor baby doesn't realize she is in for a two hour car ride home in her dreaded car seat...  Thanks to CA traffic!
