The Getty Villa

This has been a CRAZY week, starting off with me fainting last Sunday morning.  Luckily Ladd hadn't left for his Sunday meetings yet, and was there to catch me, and then take me to Urgent care.  The rest of the week progressed with 3 doctor appointments, lots of tests, lots of lightheadedness, and no answers. :(.  But, my lightheadedness has improved, we now know my heart is in good condition, and my fears of passing out again unexpectedly are starting to subside.

So we needed a good end to the week, and chose to go through with our original plans of meeting my sister Monica at the Getty Villa in Malibu on Friday.  It was a beautiful day.  The Getty Villa is all about ancient Greek and Roman art.  The whole time we were there I kept asking myself why did we not come here 2 years ago when we were studying ancient Greece and Rome?  But, I am glad we went now.  We are starting to study the Neoclassical period in art, so this was a perfect review of classical art from antiquity.

All the kids had fun in the Family Forum room where they got to make vase rubbings...

 design a real vase...

and wear ancient costumes and create little plays out of them.
I really enjoyed the art detective activities that the Museum provides for the kids.  It helps my kids really pay attention to the art they are looking at and give it a little more meaning.

The boys were really impressed with this HUGE statue that is currently on loan from a Museum in Rome...

So, our crazy, appointment filled week ended on a good note.  Ladd and I even got to go out to dinner and go the the Redlands temple on Saturday, which made our Valentines Week even sweeter.

Glad you're okay and hope that no news is good news! And glad you were still able to do some nice things last week.
