Hollywood Bowl Bummer

For the last few years we have been driving out to the Hollywood Bowl for the children's summer concert series. Each concert focuses on a different country and shows dancing and music from that country. You can see some of our adventures from last year here. Before the show there is a craft fair where the kids can choose a craft to do relating to that country. We bought tickets for it this year too, but they changed it all!
The crafts were still fun...
Making clay masks (Mexico)

Making Brazilian Flags

But the actual concert is totally different and not worth the drive! Instead of visiting the country, they talk about how the "beat" from that country fits into the "beat" in LA. The main characters are break dancers and both the shows we have been to have the exact same, boring story line. But, I will have to say Tanner has picked up some sweet breakin' moves! So if you were thinking of buying tickets to the Summer Sounds Concert Series at the Hollywood Bowl, don't.

We still kept our tradition of meeting with friends the day before the concert and doing activities and trying food from that country. It is a fun way for the kids (and Moms) to learn a little more about the country...

Anyways, if anyone knows of any other culturally themed kids summer events we can try next year, I would love some ideas!
