Pocahontas came to visit our school group this week! She told us about her life and the FRIENDSHIP that she created with the new English settlers of Jamestown. We had a picnic with traditional Native American foods...
Pocahontas loved to do cartwheels with the kids in Jamestown, so she taught the kids how to do cartwheels...
And about the longhouses her tribe lived in. The kids made longhouse models...
The older boys showed everyone how Native Americans would use sign language to speak to people from other tribes...
Even though Pocahontas was having a pretty bad hair day that day, she had fun meeting all these cute kids anxious to learn about her! You can't see it, but the mantle says "Friendship" and Pocahontas was hoping everyone would learn that lifeskill as they learned about her life.
