Viva Las Vegas

We knew at the beginning of the gymnastics season that Nationals was going to be in Las Vegas, since it was so close and Ladd's parents have a house there, we decided we would go.  We signed up and were all excited to see Tanner compete.  About 2 weeks before, we found out the boys competition was moved to Sunday!  Tanner chose to keep the Sabbath Day and not compete on Sunday.  Even though we were all disappointed about the schedule change, we are proud of him for keeping his covenants!  We still decided to make a little vacation since Ladd already had the time off from work.

We don't do the Strip at Vegas- too vulgar! Instead, we enjoy the beauty of the desert!  We went to the Hoover Dam.  It was beautiful and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling that way.  Maybe not in the middle of a heat wave though- I don't mind the heat, but 110 is a bit much for me!

In the Visitors Center watching a movie about the dam...

One family member did not want to get anywhere near the edge of the wall.  Look at the pictures and see if you can tell who is afraid of heights in our family.  Hint:  It's not the photographer!

On Saturday, we went to the Spring Preserves.  Another place I would not recommend in 3 digit heat, but there are enough air conditioned Museums that we were comfortable enough!

We all got a kick out of the technology exhibit.  The kids liked seeing all the ancient things like tape players, cassettes, and phones with cords.  It made Ladd and I feel really old that things we still own, and used to use on a daily basis, were on display at a museum!

It was a fun family trip even though we didn't get to see Tanner compete!
